news Multinational insurance company IAG has appointed digital expert Peter Bonney to a newly established Disruptive Technology and Architecture role within its IAG Labs division.
Bonney (see his LinkedIn profile here) has spent the last seven years as Technology Director for Deloitte Digital in Sydney. During this time he played a “central part” in the growth of Deloitte’s information management and digital capabilities, IAG said in a statement.
In his new role as official ‘disrupter’, Bonney will have a “key leadership position” in the Digital & Technology team within IAG Labs, reporting to IAG Group Chief Information Officer Claire Rawlins.
“Peter is recognised globally as a skilled and forward-thinking digital leader. He brings a wealth of knowledge to IAG, with significant experience executing large-scale digital transformation strategies,” said Rawlins.
“Digital technology is enabling us to adapt to our customers’ changing needs faster than ever before. Peter’s role will be pivotal in introducing new digital architecture and leveraging emerging technologies to ensure we keep ahead of the external environment,” she added.
IAG Labs is a relatively new department within the firm. It was launched in July this year as IAG’s digital hub for innovation and has already spawned a “number of insurance innovations”, including ShareCover, a protection policy for Australians participating in the share economy.
“It’s incredibly exciting to join IAG at a time where digital innovation is at the top of the business agenda. IAG Labs has proven to be a successful incubator for game-changing insurance products and there is tremendous potential to continue to disrupt the market,” said Bonney.
“I’m looking forward to leading a passionate team of innovators to identify new opportunities for leveraging digital technology to better serve IAG customers, shareholders and employees,” he said.
IAG (Insurance Australia Group Limited) is a multinational insurance company with headquarters in Sydney. The firm is listed on the Australian Securities Exchange and appears on the S&P/ASX 50 index.
