    Mt Isa NBN rollout

Yesterday Communications Minister Stephen Conroy, along with Federal Independent MP Bob Katter and other dignitaries such as Leighton executive Peter McGrath, attended a launch in remote Mt Isa of the first fibre optic backbone link being laid for the National Broadband Network (NBN) on mainland Australia.

The link is being built by Leighton Holdings‑owned Nextgen Networks as part of an agreement inked in December last year.
