UXC Oxygen delivers SAP HANA migration for SA Power Networks

news UXC Oxygen, a specialist SAP consulting and services company now owned by CSC, has deployed a new SAP HANA platform for Australian electricity distributor SA Power Networks.

The project required that UXC Oxygen move the power distributor’s SAP ERP and Business Warehouse (BW) platforms onto SAP HANA, as well as migrate its SAP portal and ERP/BW servers to a Windows platform, and install new hardware in an “enhanced disaster recovery environment”, according to a statement from USC Oxygen.

“We trusted UXC Oxygen with this extremely complex project and they didn’t let us down,” said Chris Ford, CIO, SA Power Networks. “We are one of the first companies in Australia to undertake a migration of this magnitude, and thanks to a great team effort in the face of some challenging last-minute obstacles, it was delivered to plan.”

According to Ford, the completion of the project was the result of a “significant investment” by SA Power Networks to future-proof its SAP operating system.

“Our ERP and BW systems had been in place for a number of years and needed overhauling,” he explained. “The move to SAP HANA provides us with a database and reporting system that helps us meet regulatory reporting requirements, and enables end users to perform real-time analysis on live data.”

UXC Oxygen was granted the project following a “competitive” tender process, and conducted a trial of the migration to SAP HANA as part of the project’s design phase.

“The trial was instrumental in devising our migration approach, hardware requirements and landscape architecture for the new installation,” said Ford.

UXC Oxygen was further asked to coordinate the activities of a number of third-party hardware, software and consulting services providers as part of its role.

Seelan Nayagam, Managing Director for CSC in Australia and New Zealand, commented: “The team’s successful management of this technically complex project confirms UXC Oxygen as one of Australia’s leading system integrators in the design and delivery of SAP HANA required dedication and professionalism.”

“The recent addition of UXC Oxygen to the CSC family substantially strengthens our SAP capabilities and advances our aim to be the leading IT services company in the ANZ region,” Nayagam added.

In February 2016, CSC (Computer Sciences Corporation) acquired UXC Oxygen, following a vote by shareholders and approval from the Victorian Supreme Court.

SAP HANA is an open platform-as-a-service providing in-memory database and business application services. It is developed and marketed by SAP SE.
