Next G goes down in Queensland

Telstra has confirmed that its Next G mobile network has been suffering an outage in Queensland since early today, but said it expected the problems to be fully resolved by lunchtime.

“Telstra has been experiencing problems with its mobile network in Queensland since early today,” a spokesperson for the telco said in a statement. “Customers may have had trouble making mobile phone calls or using smart mobile phones to receive emails.”

The telco said it had implemented a series of solutions that would restore services for almost all users. However, it added the network had been congested as “customers repeatedly try to dial the same number” — which is believed to mean customers attempting to re-dial.

“We expect to fully resolve the issue by lunchtime,” Telstra said.
