Railcorp renews Fujitsu outsourcing deal
news NSW transport body Railcorp has extended its IT outsourcing arrangement with Japanese IT services giant Fujitsu for another two years for an undisclosed sum.
The deal — inked on 3 December 2009 — will see Fujitsu continue to provide Railcorp with managed services in the areas of desktop support, service desk, server management and datacentre operations for another three years as an extension of the initial deal in 2006, which was hotly contested.
The value of the deal was not disclosed, and Railcorp does not appear to have published the contract on the NSW Government’s tendering website.
At the time the deal was initially signed in 2006, Railcorp CIO Vicki Coleman described the services included in the deal as “non-core” and “commodity offerings” in an interview with ZDNet.com.au.
Railcorp has also recently inked a $225 million deal with UGL (and sub-contractor Huawei) to upgrade radio communications on CityRail lines.
