I hope this is OK to post here … if not, any suggestions on where to look would be much appreciated…
I’m involved with a small golf club in QLD that currently has a mobile tower on the property, built by Optus, and we receive some lease income from both Optus and Telstra for the tower and two ‘sheds’ on the ground.
Recently we’ve had a bit of interest from a couple of companies looking to buy out our leases … upfront payment in exchange for them getting the next 30yrs rent … assuming the leases are renewed for that long.
They’ve made the suggestion that the income is not guaranteed and could stop at any time… our leases are up for renewal in a couple of years … but for all that, they’re putting up a sizable sum of money so you have to assume they’ve done their homework.
Needless to say, as a bunch of volunteers we are in way over our heads in a lot of this and I’d appreciate some input from someone with a better understanding of the industry and accompanying technology.
What I’m hoping someone might shed some light on is how we might find out whether or not the NBN is likely to be looking to share this tower?
Also whether the NBN ground infrastructure is suitable to share one of the existing ground buildings with Telstra or Optus?
Short version is, this deal would definitely help us in the short-mid term, but we don’t want to sell off an asset if there’s changes coming that would seriously increase it’s value.
Any thoughts?
Thanks in advance…
Matt

18/02/2013 at 5:22 pm #141100Yes, but talk to Telstra, Optus, Vodafone, and NBN Co. They will all likely be interested. Seek the best deal and go for it.
An NBN Co tower is the least likely to move.

Is IBM retrenching 1,500 Aussie staff?
If reports are to be believed, and they’re flooding in from both mainstream media outlets with claimed staff sources, as well as online staff message boards, the company could be in the process of making some 1,500 Australian staff redundant, which would probably be about 10 percent of its local workforce.
