Thread EVERYONE should read before even COMMENTING on pricing
http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/1675718
Simon Hackket, Beren Scott and John Lindsay are all people that know what they are talking about, regarding both NBNCo's pricing, and ISP pricing in general
If you manage to read all the way to the end of the thread, NBNCo never actually directly answers their questions, just a general statement that they require to do these charges because they need to pay back the network, as they were instructed under the government to do so
Maths and explanation and whatnot is all in there

I know it's silly to feed those who are so anxious to be trolling FUD, but a couple of points just for the record:
The linked WP thread above is nearly twelve months old, and so much water has gone under the bridge since then that most of the references are now outdated.
It is entirely proper for Simon & co to publicly address detail about NBN in a way that will be likely to put them in a better negotiating position for future access to that company, just as it is entirely proper for other people to suggest that may be occurring.
It may not be particularly useful to inferentially describe such commercial positioning as a finite and objective assessment of the NBN business plan.

Nice try, but no references in that thread are outdated. NBNCo has been using this pricing ever since they wen't out of trial
Conspiracy theories always make great rhetoric, even when Simon (and others) used NBNCo's own figures
It's also not useful to come up with baseless criticisms and ad-hominems, which puts a shame to the person your nick is named after

I come up with facts, which means changing my mind if the facts indicate that is the right thing to do.
But I don't have any political baggage, overt or covert, which frees me from the need to make ridiculous and uninformed statements in support of some part of the political class.

That's deteego's last post, I wonder where the silly little sausage has gone? He hasn't been back since.

lol sausage.
deetgos problem was he was easily distracted and insisted on nitpicking. Look at my "Hall of Shame" thread that he totally befouled with his antics. It cannot be salvaged, it'll have to be demolished and rebuilt from scratch!

That's a nice way of putting it. Some people who have been hearing him for years might be unkind enough to suggest that his problem seemed to be that he was easily led into following some fairly shonky policy statements from one part of the political spectrum.
That's the trouble with enthusiastic amateurs - their enthusiasm quickly exceeds both their personal knowledge AND any semblance of common sense.Look at my "Hall of Shame" thread that he totally befouled with his antics. It cannot be salvaged, it'll have to be demolished and rebuilt from scratch!

Hello HC and socrates,
Do what I did, (if you haven't done already) and search on Google for deteego, is must be the same person that pollutes other unfortunate sites as well. That person's "style" is a load of rambling drivel as well. Even replies to his posts are much the same as here and of the same opinion.
BTW, is anyone here (Delimiter) interested in operating systems? Namely anything of the BSD variety? That includes FreeBSD, Dragonfly, PCBSD and OpenBSD.
I regard myself as an enthusiastic noob on this OS, having switched from Debian.Last edited by dettol; 19-05-2012 at 01:22 AM.

yes I remember deetgo was posting on other websites too, zdnet and itnews are two that spring to mind (no goggle search needed) and apparently he was also posting on whirlpool then was banned (I don't endorse this).
I've always found those banning decisions odd. I rather they be left alone to spout their ill-informed opinions as much as they want... I guess I just have a bit more foresight when it come to these things, can you imagine the great entertainment you'll get reading these comments 10 years from now if the NBN is complete?
As for operating systems I am just using Windows XP atm but do occasionally like to play with other operating systems in VMware. I was using Ubuntu but it jumped the shark so I dumped it and testing Linux Mint instead now.

Hello HC, I have been censored that many times on Whirlpool, mostly posting comments toward people like deteego, I have given up. It seems as though they can get away making outrageous comments, particularly on ITN but anyone who contradicts them gets censored.
I would like to see Delimiter have forums on operating systems and programming similar to WP, without the idiots.
The irony is deteego will end up using the NBN because he is a gamer and they want speed.

You could start an OS topic on the "Other" board. I dont think we have the traffic here to dedicate a whole forum to it.
