“The move to this new building will see us bring together more than 1000 employees, currently located at our existing North Sydney and Chatswood offices, into the one workspace,” Marsh said.

The CFO pointed to 18 months of “solid growth” for the company across the board, including in revenue and customer numbers, and framed the new HQ as “a next step in our journey”.

“The prominent building-top signage will become part of the North Sydney skyline in another signal that Vodafone is back,” Marsh said. “The fit-out will be completed over coming months, with the look and feel a mixture of Vodafone’s brand palette, overlaid with natural, warm flooring and furniture.”

Michael Stanley, the telco’s Director of Human Resources, said that all Sydney-based corporate employees would move into the new premises before the end of 2016, and that “at the heart of the move” is the firm’s commitment to “attracting and retaining the best employees.”

“Using design-thinking principles driven by our employees, we are creating a new space which is a living embodiment of our values, and encourages increased collaboration, productivity and innovation,” he said.

The physical layout of the new HQ will comprise of functional “neighbourhoods”, with each employee being able to choose how they use the spaces, technology and resources “in order to be most effective”, Stanley explained.

“This new space will challenge traditional thinking, break down any silos and embed a culture of trust which favours outcomes over hours,” he said. “By facilitating and encouraging flexible working options such as working from home and flexible roles, we are aiming to diversify our talent pool and truly become a mobile workplace.”
