news Australian telecoms provider Amaysim has announced improved data and international inclusions on all its Unlimited mobile plans, including a 9GB package for less than $50.

Starting from 31 March, the firm’s Unlimited mobile plans will all receive extra data inclusions of between 500MB and 2GB for the same renewal price, as follows:

  • Unlimited 5GB and 5GB Plus plans will both receive an extra 2GB of data, making them Unlimited 7GB and 7GB Plus, respectively.
  • Unlimited 8GB and Unlimited 2GB will both receive 1GB of extra data, making them Unlimited 9GB and Unlimited 3GB, respectively.
  • Unlimited 1GB will have an added 500MB of bonus data, making it Unlimited 1.5GB.

All Unlimited plans will also receive unlimited standard international calls from Australia to Amaysim’s 10 most-called countries, including China, India, NZ, the UK and the USA.

The telco said that, “to make it simpler for Aussies to make a like-for-like comparison between BYO prepaid plans in the market”, all of the Unlimited mobile plans will now renew every 28 days instead of every 30 days.

The company’s Chief Commercial Officer Andrew Balint said: “The telco market is flooded with promotions and one-off offers which are anything but simple. At Amaysim, what you see is what you get and what we’re offering is really compelling. It is the next step on our mission to make mobile plans amazingly simple.”

“Its also worth noting that unlike our competitors the revised plans will be available to all of our existing customers, not just the new ones,” he said.

From 31 March, existing customers will be automatically moved onto the new plans when their plan next renews, the firm said. New customers will also be able to purchase the updated plans from the same date.

The move comes just a few months after Amaysim previously increased the data and international inclusions of its Unlimited plans.

  1. Eh, I had a chat with some people at vodafone and managed to talk them down on their $40 a month plan down to $35 in a matter of minutes. Unlimited calls/texts and 6GB (Plus you get an extra 500mb each time you share a plan and can share the data/calls between plans). Optus also has 7GB for $40 but their months are longer, or 8gb on the prepaid 28 day renewal.

It’s easy to talk Vodafone down in price you would be stupid not to try, just use their live chat in the support page (if there is someone available a message will pop up). I found it easier to get the support message to appear when logged in and browsing plans etc.

  2. Title is a little misleading with the word “month” in there. “under $50 every 28 days” would be more accurate.

It’s basically a ~7% price increase but with the addition of extra data which most people will not come close to using. On a positive, there is the opportunity to downgrade to a cheaper off now since there is more data included.

    Cheers
