Qld Premier’s Dept seeks Woolley replacement

Queensland’s Department of Premier and Cabinet has kicked off the search for a senior IT executive to replace its former chief information officer Phil Woolley, who recently joined Queensland Health.

The department advertised Woolley’s job today as a three-year contract, with a possible two-year extension, with what it described as an “attractive” remuneration package ranging up to $167,683.

“As CIO, you will be accountable for all aspects of the security, risk management and performance of the department’s ICT and IM systems and resources,” the advertisement stated. “You will also take overall responsibility for the development and communication of the department’s strategy for corporate governance of IT.”

The advertisement caps off a strong of senior technology moves within the Queensland state and local governments over the past while. Woolley’s new title at Queensland Health is executive director, Information Division. Brisbane Council manager of ICT strategy Susan Heath has also taken a senior role under Queensland Health CIO Ray Brown, while Brisbane City Council has appointed a new CIO, Nick Brant.

The Queensland Government Chief Information Office has also made a spate of hires, with Dallas Stower coming across from Queensland Rail among other appointments, and influential Tasmanian broadband specialist Jim Wyatt to migrate North to take up a role as the state’s director of Telecommunications and Broadband Strategy.
